Warminster’s mayor is looking to expand local litter picks and support volunteers as part of a commitment to keep the town tidy.
Mayor Jack Jones, who is continuing in his role as the town council’s Litter Pick Champion, is looking to organise a community litter pick during the summer months following the success of Warminster’s Great British Spring Clean event earlier this year.
“It will be a great opportunity for residents, families, community groups and local organisations to come together and make a positive impact,” said Cllr Jones.
Cllr Jones regularly supports community clean-ups and champions local environmental campaigns. He is part of a local network of volunteers who tackle litter around various areas in Warminster each week and has personally picked up 4,561 pieces of litter so far this year.
“Keeping Warminster clean and tidy is something I’m incredibly passionate about, and I’m proud to continue serving as the town’s Litter Pick Champion,” he said.
“We now have 42 registered volunteer litter pickers who take responsibility for their own areas across Warminster, which is a fantastic example of community spirit in action. Together, we are making a real difference to the appearance of our town and helping to protect our local environment.
“Warminster is a town we can all be proud of, and I would encourage anyone interested in getting involved to join us. Every piece of litter picked up makes a difference.”
