A coffee morning to raise funds for the Warminster Action Group (WAG) is being held on Saturday 13th September, 10am-12 noon, at Warminster United Church in George Street.
“Founded in the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, WAG has become a beacon of community spirit and support, run entirely by volunteers,” says the group.
“Starting with essential services like shopping assistance, prescription pick-ups and dog walking, we quickly adapted to meet the broader needs of our community, introducing telephone befriending and wellbeing calls to combat isolation and support mental health.
“Our journey reached a new milestone in August 2021 when we achieved charitable status and opened The WAG House in Chinns Court, a move which enabled us to collaborate with other organisations and closely partner with the Avenue Doctors’ Surgery and their Health and Wellbeing team.
“By March 2023, our commitment to serving Warminster’s evolving needs led them to relocate The WAG House to a larger venue in Kennard’s Yard.
“The lounge which has recently been revamped, is a bright, welcoming area where anyone can pop in for a chat and a cuppa; there is also a creative space and a community shed (workshop).
“The original need for the essential services of shopping for housebound people etc is still there and there is always a need for more volunteers.”
