Warminster Town Football Club is celebrating a double boost – securing major Premier League funding for vital ground improvements and receiving recognition for its work in the community.
The club has been awarded the maximum available grant of 70% towards the cost of replacing its ageing pitch barrier through the Premier League Stadium Fund (PLSF). The upgrade will see the existing barrier – long a health and safety concern – replaced with a modern, flexible PVCu system that meets current FA and league standards.
Adding to the celebrations, the club was also Highly Commended in the Organisation of the Year category at the Radio Bath Charity & Local Business Awards 2025 – a recognition of the club’s growing role as a community hub.
Club chairman James Stone said the Premier League grant was “a fantastic achievement for everyone involved” and marks an important milestone in the club’s long-term development.
“When I took on the role of Chairman in May 2025, the replacement of the pitch barrier was right at the top of the committee’s list of priorities,” he explained. “The condition of the existing structure posed not only a safety concern but also a barrier to the club’s continued growth and compliance with modern ground standards.
“I am incredibly proud that, after months of hard work, collaboration and persistence, we have secured the maximum 70% funding through the Premier League Stadium Fund. This is a testament to the collective effort of everyone involved – our committee, volunteers and community supporters.”
With the majority of funding now secured, the club will turn its attention to raising the remaining 30% through sponsorships, community fundraising and local grants.
The new system will significantly enhance safety for players, officials and supporters, as well as improve the matchday experience and help future-proof facilities ahead of the club’s 150th anniversary in 2028.
The Radio Bath award highlights the club’s progress both on and off the pitch and follows the launch of a new U18 team, achieving FA Accreditation and continued development of club facilities. Warminster Town has also worked closely with local businesses, schools and charities to strengthen community ties.
“To be named Highly Commended in such a competitive field is a truly proud moment for everyone connected with Warminster Town Football Club,” said James. “This recognition is not just about football; it’s about people – the volunteers who give up their time, the local businesses who support us, the players who represent the club with pride and the community that stands behind us every week.
“To be recognised alongside some of the region’s most respected community organisations shows that our collective effort is making a real and lasting impact. It’s a clear reflection of how far the club has come since the start of the season both on and off the pitch.”
