Drivers caught speeding in Warminster

Police recorded 16 drivers speeding in a single day of speed enforcement checks across the Warminster area recently.

Speed enforcement was carried out at several locations on 27th July. Police said all roads had clearly signed 30mph speed limits and that conditions were dry and sunny.

Sand Street, near Frog Lane, was the only location monitored where no vehicles were caught speeding.

On Victoria Road, four vehicles were recorded speeding, with the highest speed reaching 38mph.

Near Chapmanslade Village Hall, one vehicle was recorded travelling at 36mph.

Six vehicles were recorded speeding on Bidden Lane in Chitterne, with the highest speed reaching 40mph.

Near the church at Maiden Bradley, one vehicle was recorded travelling at 37mph.

Four vehicles were recorded speeding in Hill Deverill, with the highest speed reaching 43mph.

Most of the drivers will be considered for a speed awareness course, subject to their previous driving history. In Hill Deverill, two drivers will be offered a speed awareness course, while two others will receive a Fixed Penalty Notice and three penalty points.

A spokesperson for the Warminster Neighbourhood Policing Team said, “Appropriate enforcement action will now be taken in each case, based on the driver’s history and the speed recorded.”
