Warminster families have been making use of the town’s splash pad as schools remain closed for a second consecutive day during the ongoing heatwave.
Local schools were closed yesterday and today, Thursday 25th June, following a Met Office red extreme heat warning.
The Lake Pleasure Grounds was busy earlier today, with families taking the opportunity to cool off at the splash pad and seeking shade under trees.
Most schools are expected to reopen tomorrow as cooler conditions are forecast.
A spokesperson from Kingdown School said, “We would like to thank all of our parents and carers for their understanding, flexibility and support following the unprecedented changes to the school day this week.
“Making decisions in situations like this is never straightforward. We know that changes to routines can create challenges for families, and we do not take those decisions lightly. However, every decision we make as a school is guided by one overriding priority: the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff.”
