Step into Wonderland with the Athenaeum Limelight Players this July, as they present four performances of Alice in Wonderland at the Athenaeum Centre Theatre from Thursday 17th to Saturday 19th July.

The theatre group says, “Be prepared to be plunged down the rabbit hole and join Alice, played by 13-year-old Lily King, as she journeys through a wonderfully wacky world filled with rhymes and riddles, cheeky cats and chess boards, Mad Hatters and mayhem. She attends the most absurd tea party, crosses paths with talking creatures, faces the outrageously temperamental Queen of Hearts, and Humpty Dumpty is teetering on a wall – what could possibly go wrong?
“This hugely talented cast, ranging in age from 9 to 85, brings all your favourite eccentric characters to life in this unique and fabulously quirky production.”
Brainerd Duffield’s imaginative stage adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s much-loved classic promises a magical adventure for all ages.
Director Heather Hughes said, “I am delighted to have the support of the Athenaeum Limelight Players to make this family-friendly production possible. I have loved working with long-time friends, and I am excited to be able to introduce you to some very talented young actors who I hope we will see a lot more of on this stage.”
This is Heather’s fourth production, having previously directed Pride and Prejudice, Dad’s Army, and Goodnight Mister Tom.
A raffle will be held at each performance, raising money for PSC Support, the UK’s patient organisation for people living with the rare immune-mediated liver disease, Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis.
“Do come along – and don’t be late – or the Queen of Hearts might just declare, ‘Off with your head!’” the organisers say.
