Local children celebrate completing primary school

Year 6 pupils in Warminster marked the end of their primary school years with a variety of celebrations. 

School leavers at St John’s CofE Primary School were celebrated with a special service at the end of term.

Students talked about their favourite memories at the school and attendees watched a slideshow of photographs of the pupils from their early years until now. Teachers also gave out awards to children who embodied the school’s values of love, hope and trust.

Year 6 teacher Charlotte Walker said, “I will miss the children greatly and wish them the best of luck on the next step of their journey into secondary education.”

Meanwhile, pupils at Crockerton CofE Primary School celebrated the last few weeks of term with various activities, including a colour run, talent competition and whole-school walk to Heaven’s Gate.

The end of term also marked the end of a 30-year teaching career for Headteacher Mrs Ilic, who is stepping away from education to begin a new chapter.

She said, “Despite being an exhausting role with many challenges, with the support of many staff and wonderful children, the school met the challenges and came out stronger. I will so miss welcoming children to school every day, hearing their news and their excuses, and watching them learn and grow.

“I am ready for an exciting new chapter, but will always carry the school, its children and all of those who make the school what it is, close to my heart.”
