Singers in Warminster will join people around the world in singing together to celebrate the United Nations International Day of Peace.
Warminster Community Choir will be joined by members of Rock Choir, Goldies Sing and Smile sessions and members of the public for the Sing for Unity event on Sunday 20th September at The Minster Church of St Denys.
Sing for Unity is a global movement which aims to promote peace and unity by having groups around the world perform at 2pm local time.
“Each participating group will sing or play a number of songs at 2pm local time, creating a relay of music across the world to promote peace and unity,” said Katy Horner, leader of Warminster Community Choir.
“This year we expect to join this worldwide movement together with others from locations as far away as New Zealand, Australia and Mexico covering many different time zones.”
The Warminster singers are hoping to link up with a choir in Denmark to pass the musical relay on as it moves across time zones around the world.
“I would like to encourage members of the public to come along, to listen and even sing along and be a part of what promises to be an uplifting and memorable occasion,” said Katy.
The event is free to attend, and refreshments will be available.
