The Athenaeum Limelight Players will perform Blackadder Goes Forth, a dark historical comedy set in the trenches of the First World War, in Warminster later this month.
The production will take place at the Warminster Athenaeum on Thursday 16th, Friday 17th and Saturday 18th July from 7.30pm until 10pm.
“Athenaeum Limelight Players have undertaken various series of Rowan Atkinson’s famous comedies and have decided that there is no better time than the 110th anniversary of the Battle of The Somme to stage another,” said producer Alexander Meadow.
“It is a show which delicately balances both intelligent wit and ludicrous comedy, with the reality and heartbreak of such a horrific war, following the adventures of Captain Edmund Blackadder and his less-than-impressive attempts to avoid going ‘over the top’.”
The production will support Blesma, a charity dedicated to assisting serving and ex-service men and women who have suffered life-changing limb loss or the loss of the use of a limb, an eye or sight.
“There will be a raffle every night, and all proceeds will go to this charity which does amazing work supporting and caring for wounded veterans who have lost limbs fighting for our country,” said Alexander.
