Members of Warminster’s Military Wives Choir have knitted poppies for schoolchildren from military families.
The poppies were given to the Little Troopers club at St George’s Catholic Primary School as part of this year’s Remembrance commemorations.
Little Troopers is a special club within the school dedicated to supporting children from military families. With many pupils experiencing the unique challenges of having parents who serve in the Armed Forces – including frequent relocations or periods of separation – the club provides a safe space for them to share experiences, build friendships, and celebrate their shared identity as part of the military community.
“We wanted to do something special for the children,” said choir member Sarah Gilbody.
“Many of us have been in their shoes, or are parents ourselves, so we know how important it is for them to feel seen and supported. These poppies are a small gesture, but they carry a big message of love and remembrance.”
Headteacher Sue Cannella said, “Our Little Troopers are so proud to wear their poppies. It reminds them that they are part of something bigger – a strong, caring community that understands their experiences and celebrates their resilience.”
“The initiative beautifully highlights the spirit of remembrance, community and togetherness that defines Warminster, where generations of military families continue to support one another in meaningful ways.”
The St George’s School choir will be joining the Warminster Military Wives Choir at their Christmas concert on Saturday 13th December at Christ Church.
