New Warminster wellbeing practice opens next month

A new complementary wellbeing practice is launching in Warminster next month, bringing together Bach Flower Therapy and Reiki and helping clients record and reflect on changes in their pain, mood, energy, sleep and stress.

Healing You Ltd has been created by local Bach Flower & Reiki Practitioner Kirsty Wells, following her own experience of living with persistent physical pain and becoming increasingly interested in the relationship between our emotional, energetic and physical experiences.

“Over time, I became fascinated by the connection between our emotions, our energy and the way we experience our bodies,” said Kirsty.

“That doesn’t mean all pain is emotional, and complementary therapy should never replace appropriate medical diagnosis or treatment. But I wanted to explore the person as a whole and ask whether sometimes there could be more to our experience of pain than the physical symptoms alone.”

Kirsty specialises in the ABC Method of Bach Flower Therapy, which explores present emotional patterns and how past experiences, behaviours and emotional responses may influence how someone feels today. Personalised Bach Flower preparations are then created according to the individual client’s emotional needs.

“Bach Flowers provide the emotional foundation. Reiki complements this energetically,” she said. “And at the centre of everything is the individual person and their own healing response.”

That healing response inspired Kirsty to develop the Healing You Method — a structured way for clients to observe and reflect upon changes throughout their journey.

Clients can record areas including pain, mood, energy, sleep and stress, alongside emotions, memories, physical sensations and other experiences they notice between sessions.

“Rather than simply thinking, ‘I feel different’, I wanted people to be able to look back and recognise what has actually been changing for them,” Kirsty explained.

Healing You has also collaborated with Warminster artist Tanya Hinton, whose work can be seen in community projects around the town, to create a bespoke mural for the treatment room.

“I didn’t want the room to feel clinical,” said Kirsty. “I wanted someone to walk through the door and feel they had entered somewhere peaceful where they could switch off from everyday life.

“Tanya took everything I described and brought it to life across the wall beautifully.”

Healing You launches in Warminster on 1st October, offering private, one-to-one complementary therapy sessions.

“At the centre of the practice is a simple philosophy: You Heal You,” added Kirsty. “I don’t believe healing should be presented as something a practitioner simply does to another person. My role is to provide personalised Bach Flower support, Reiki, the environment, tools and guidance, but the individual remains at the centre of their own journey.

“The message behind Healing You is simple: You don’t have to keep carrying it. Healing is possible. You Heal You.”

  • MP explains decision to vote against assisted dying bill

Warminster MP Andrew Murrison has explained his decision to vote against the latest attempt to legalise assisted dying, citing concerns about protecting vulnerable people and the potential consequences for the medical profession and care system.

The House of Commons voted against the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill on Friday 11th September, with 286 MPs voting against and 270 in favour.

The Bill proposed allowing terminally ill adults to request assistance to end their own lives, subject to safeguards.

MPs were given a free vote on the issue, meaning they were not required to vote along party lines.

Explaining his decision in a speech in Parliament, Andrew Murrison said, “The first reason I will not be supporting this Bill today is I seriously do not want to live in the kind of society in which we see the frail, elderly and vulnerable coerced into ‘doing the right thing.’

“We can set up panels and judges in chamber and social workers and all the rest of it, but we as humans know how humans work. We know the light side and we know the dark.

“We know that certain groups particularly like to please, to acquiesce, to oblige. We all know constituents like that and we also know that they are often amongst the most vulnerable.”

Dr Murrison, who declared his interest as a recent medical practitioner and active doctor, also raised concerns about the impact on healthcare professionals.

“I do not want the tone and texture of my profession or of any other to be change irrevocably by its involvement in termination.

  • The Woodlanders show set to raise funds for local causes

A group of entertainers in a local village are preparing to perform their new variety show, raising funds for local causes.

The Woodlanders Variety Show will be back with a completely new show in October, celebrating 49 years. The show will run each evening from 5th to 9th October, with a matinee on Saturday 10th.

As part of their performances, the group donates the profits to Frome causes.

Treasurer of The Woodlanders, Sandra Gaisford, said, “Each is a small local charity run on a shoestring and every donation is, therefore, very valuable, sometimes being the difference between continuing their work and being unable to.”

  • Consider the Wondrous launches in Frome this month

A new festival is taking place in Frome this month, focusing on reconnection, nature and our place in the world.

Also an author, Gareth visited Frome last year for a book event and was captivated by the town’s vibrancy and unique character.

He said, “The festival itself has been growing in my mind for some years but I was looking for the perfect location to make it happen. As soon as I came to Frome, I just knew it had to be here.”

  • Warminster’s film society celebrates 25th anniversary

A Warminster film society has celebrated 25 years of bringing cinema to the town with a special anniversary screening.

Warminster and District Film Society marked the milestone with a screening of the Oscar-winning film Hamnet at the Athenaeum on Wednesday 2nd September, complete with celebratory drinks and birthday cake.

The society was founded in 2000, when the Athenaeum was reopening after being placed into liquidation. Founding member Andrew Frostick said a small committee recognised there was an appetite for films in the town and began exploring how to establish a film society.

“By the following autumn we were ready to go launching the idea of a film society for the town,” said Andrew.

“Our first film was Erin Brockovich, and we started with a season of six films. It was a roaring success, and within a few months we were one of the largest film societies in the South West with about 230 members.”

  • Warminster writer’s short story to be published in national magazine

A shorter story written by a Warminster man has been selected for publication in an upcoming edition of Woman’s Weekly magazine.

Retired Government Information Specialist Chris Watson began writing short stories in 2021. In late 2025, he submitted one of his stories to Woman’s Weekly magazine, which has now been selected for publication.

“Its an uplifting story of a lone woman looking out to sea from a cliff top bench, alone with her memories and suddenly a stray dog appears and changes her life,” said Chris.

“The story is inspired by there being so many abandoned dogs since the pandemic and the onset of the cost of living crisis. They are just as much in need of loving human companions as are many people who have a gap in their lives, for whatever reason, and who can gain so much happiness from a canine companion.

“I hope stories such as this can encourage people who can to take on a dog from British dog shelters who desperately need a home.”

  • National recognition for Kingdown designers

A group of students from Kingdown School has received an Honourable Mention after reaching the final of a national design competition.

Design club students Rose, Faye, Lily, Lilly, Becci and Eleanor were selected as one of 10 finalist teams in the V&A Innovate National Schools Challenge, after their design was chosen from 166 entries submitted by 37 schools across England.

The team pitched their interchangeable modular building system, which is designed to allow schools to create seating, tables and shelter for students, to a panel of industry experts.

“Our students’ project, Breaktime Comfort, was recognised by the judges in the Join category,” said Harriet Rose, who ran the club for the competition.

“The team impressed with their thoughtful approach to sustainability, exploring how recycled plastics and circular economy principles could be used to create innovative benches and shelters for school communities."
