Warminster Lake Pleasure Grounds came alive with colour, music and fun on Sunday 4th May as thousands gathered for the town’s Spring in the Park celebration.
The popular annual event buzzed with excitement as visitors enjoyed a wide range of stalls from local community groups and traders, delicious food and a packed entertainment programme.
Other attractions included the play park, an assault course, petting farm, tennis courts, boats on the lake and the recently reopened splash pad – a favourite among younger guests.
The entertainment programme kicked off with maypole dancing, followed by Bell’s Angels Morris dancers. Live performances continued throughout the day, including crowd-pleasing sets from the Rock Choir, talented soloist Brogan Pearce, local favourites Warminster Brass Band and the Athenaeum Masqueraders, who treated audiences to a sneak peek of their upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz.
The ever-popular dog show, sponsored by Garston Veterinary Group and Charismatic Pets, saw many well-behaved pooches strut their stuff in front of smiling crowds before the tug-of-war competition, won by Team Curtis, who generously donated their prize money to the Mayor’s two charities.
Warminster Community Radio kept the visitors entertained and informed throughout the day.
A spokesperson for Warminster Town Council, which organised the event, praised the community effort:
“The biggest, busiest and best Spring in the Park yet,” they said. “Thank you to all the stallholders, vendors, staff and the public for another spectacular event in Warminster. Thousands enjoyed the stalls, activities, and amazing entertainment.
“We are rightly very proud of the Lake Pleasure Grounds and remain committed to organising regular events for the Warminster community that are free to attend and can be enjoyed by all.”
