Parents joined their children at Sambourne Primary School for a special lesson on living things and their habitats.
Wren Class invited parents to their annual inspire session based on their science topic, living things and their habitats.
“It was absolutely wonderful to see so many of our Year 5 and 6 parents join us for the inspire session,” said Year 5/6 teacher Mr Morgan. “Watching families work side by side, designing and building their own bug hotels, was such a joy.
“These sessions are a really special part of the year for us – they give children the chance to share their learning and creativity with the people who matter most to them. It’s something we always look forward to, and once again it was a fantastic success.”
They learnt about help organisms survive; how changes to habitats affect living things and learning how humans have a responsibility to protect habitats. Together families took part in various activities, including making bug hotels using natural materials such as pinecones, stones and sticks as well as recycled materials.
“It was a fun, hands-on activity that allowed the children to learn about the importance of insects while creating a safe habitat for them,” said Mr Morgan.
