Local police recently visited Kingdown School to deliver a session raising awareness of knife crime and safety.
Officers from the Warminster Neighbourhood Policing Team joined the Wiltshire Police Early Intervention Team, along with NHS staff, to deliver the Blunt Truth session on Monday 3rd November.
Blunt Truth is an educational initiative aimed at deterring young people from knife crime.
“The Blunt Truth session is all about giving students the confidence to speak up and potentially save lives – especially if they know someone is carrying a weapon,” said PCSO Roland Revers from the Warminster Neighbourhood Policing Team.
“What’s really powerful is that the film was made with young actors who threw themselves into it. That makes it feel real and relatable. It’s not just the police or teachers saying ‘don’t carry knives’ – it’s students talking to students, and that’s already sparking some great conversations.
“We also cover some basic first aid, so students know what to do if someone gets hurt. It’s practical, it’s engaging, and it’s making a real impact.”
During the presentations, students actively participated in discussions that highlighted the impact of knife crime and were provided with guidance on how to report any concerns to their school, the police, or through FEARLESS, the youth arm of Crimestoppers.
