Sponsored walk for local Alzheimer’s charity

Residents are being invited to take part in a five-mile sponsored ‘memory walk’ this month to raise money for Alzheimer’s Support’s day club in Warminster.

‘A Walk to Remember’ will take place at Wilton House, near Salisbury, on Sunday 21st September, in honour of World Alzheimer’s Day. Alzheimer’s Support are hoping to raise money to improve the access ramp at the Old Silk Works day club.

The five-mile sponsored walk is open to all, with registration costing £15 for adults and £5 for 11-16-year-olds. There is also an accessible one-mile route through the Wilton House gardens available.

The Walk will begin with a group warm-up and finish with an end of walk celebration with tea, cake, and a live band. All participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt, finisher’s medal, and certificate to mark their contribution.

“We’re currently raising funds for a new ramp to improve access at Old Silk Works day club in Warminster, which supports local people living with dementia and their families,” says Rachel Fear, fundraising manager for Alzheimer’s Support. “We’d love people to join the walk this year to support our efforts. Every step will help us provide more life-enhancing services, so please join us if you can!”
