Tours of St Lawrence Chapel took place on Imberbus Day, giving visitors the chance to explore the building and learn about its history.
Held on Saturday 16th August, the tours included a look at the recently restored 1764 clock and chiming bells dating back to 1657, and offered residents information on how to support local conservation work.
“It provided a great opportunity to hear about the chapel’s history,” said Ian Frostick, Chair of the Feoffees and Trustees. “The Chapel has been owned by the town since 1575. It is independent of the Church of England and relies entirely on donations, fundraising, rental income from Curfew cottage (behind the Chapel) and grants for major projects.”
The chapel will also be hosting tours and refreshments during the Summer Independent Market on Sunday 31st August between 10am to 4pm.
