Town park recognised among the country’s best

The Warminster Lake Pleasure Grounds has retained its Green Flag Award which recognises the best parks in the UK.

The award celebrates parks that are well-maintained for users and nature.

The Lake Pleasure Grounds welcomes an average of 20,000 visitors per month and is home to a range of facilities, including the splash pad, play park, tennis courts, skate park and the Pavilion Parlour. The park is managed by the Warminster Town Council grounds team.

“Warminster is immensely proud of the Lake Pleasure Grounds and maintaining the area is a real team effort, between staff, councillors and the public,” said Cllr Stacie Allensby, chair of the Parks and Estate Committee. “We are delighted that the Lake Pleasure Grounds has once again been recognised with the prestigious Green Flag Award status.

“We think it is one of the best parks in Wiltshire and believe it offers something for everyone – it’s a significant attraction in our town. We will continue to protect and improve the Lake Pleasure Grounds after breathing new life into the community space. Everyone is proud of the park, and it is well respected by residents and visitors.”

Paul Todd MBE, Green Flag Award manager at environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, said, “Warminster Town Council have shown what can be achieved when parks are properly supported and managed.

“As we celebrate 30 years of the Green Flag Award, we want every community to have access to green spaces like this that are safe, welcoming and maintained to a high standard. Congratulations to everyone involved.”

The Lake Pleasure Grounds will host a series of events this summer, including Roarminster and the Ice Cream and Bubbles Festival on Saturday 1st August.
