Warminster’s annual Remembrance Day Parade and Service will take place on Sunday 9th November.
The parade will assemble in East Street at 2.30pm and the main parade will march off at 2.40pm.
The Royal British Legion (RBL) bikers’ contingent will drive the same route in advance of the march.
Members of the public are invited to line the route, which is through Market Place, High Street and The Close, down to Portway.
The service will then take place at the War Memorial in Portway, starting at 3pm and lasting around 40 minutes. Those who have paraded will take their places alongside those who have gathered to take part.
There will be a welcome from the Mayor of Warminster, Councillor Andrew Cooper. This will be followed by readings, hymns and laying of wreaths, during which the names of those inscribed on the war memorial will be read out. Warminster Military Wives will sing, and the service will end with the singing of God Save the King.
“Please be aware of road closures that will be in place from around 2pm,” said Tom Dommett, Town Clerk at Warminster Town Council. “Disruption will be kept to a minimum, and the parade will be managed on a rolling road closure basis although some roads will remain closed for the duration of the service.”
Orders of service are available in advance from the Civic Centre on Sambourne Road and Warminster Library. Alternatively, they can be downloaded from the Warminster Town Council website, and they will also be available on the day.
For those unable to attend the service in person, the service will be broadcast live by Warminster Community Radio 105.5 FM, or you can listen on www.wcrfm.org.uk or via the Tune-In and Radio Garden apps.
