A long-established local book business has added a new toy section and will open on Saturdays throughout December to help shoppers in the run-up to Christmas.
A wide choice of toys, film and TV merchandise, model cars, games and collectibles is now available at Zardoz Books & Records at its unit in Mill Lane, Hawkeridge, near Westbury.
“If you’re looking for a stocking filler or last-minute gifts, come and see what we’ve got,” said owner Maurice Flanagan. “It’s great that Westbury now has its own toy shop and I think you might be surprised about just what we’ve got here.
“We recently bought out another Westbury trader’s stock so besides our usual books and records, we have new TV-related toys and gifts, including Bendy figures, Funko Pop items and toys, keyrings, pictures and mugs from Marvel, Star Wars, Game of Thrones and other films. Plus games, model cars, posters and many other goodies along with a growing selection of vintage items – all at reasonable and often discounted prices.
“There’s all sorts and it’s definitely worth a look and it’s a chance to support a local independent business based in the town!”
The new stock sits alongside Zardoz’s established mix of £1 books, secondhand records and memorabilia.
“Getting the new stock in also gave us a good reason to open on Saturdays,” added Maurice. “So we’re going to try that in the run up to Christmas. Customers have been asking us about it for some time so we’ll open from 10am to 4pm every Saturday in December.”
Zardoz has been a well-known name in the world of vintage paperbacks for over 30 years, specialising in science fiction, mystery and classic Penguin and Pan editions. But since moving into their spacious new unit last year, the team has expanded their stock to include music and TV-related memorabilia and posters, along with thousands of vinyl LPs, CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays, all of which will also make ideal gifts.
