Local groups and charities are looking for new volunteers to join them in 2026. Opportunities range from supporting community projects and events to helping local groups in a variety of roles.
Warminster Lions Club
Warminster Lions Club supports the town and local villages with donations, events and their second-hand bookshop.
“The club is always keen to have new members to bring fresh ideas and energy to the charity,” said Warminster Lion Nick Humpherson.
“Volunteers can join as club members or help in the second-hand bookshop in George Street. Profits from this bookshop allow the club to donate to local good causes.
For more information, contact the club via their website, Facebook, or by dropping into the club bookshop in George Street and leaving your contact details.
Warminster Street Pastors
Warminster Street Pastors are a team of volunteers from local churches. They patrol the streets of Warminster on Friday evenings and the streets and the Lake Pleasure Grounds on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
On a Friday night, we may need to help someone get home safely or offer a bottle of water if someone has over-indulged,” said secretary Janet Donbavand. “On a weekend afternoon, we may come across people who feel lonely or isolated and would just like someone to listen to them. We are completely non-judgemental. We are also known for handing out lollipops!
“It’s not about preaching the Gospel, but about keeping the streets safe and helping those in need.”

“Beyond Dementia’s volunteers also benefit from being part of a compassionate, supportive team, gaining new skills, experiences and friendships along the way.”

“We are looking to expand our volunteer team with a flexible shop volunteer, someone who can step in on an occasional basis to support the running of our charity shop when regular volunteers are away,” said Fundraising and Events Co-ordinator Amanda Strong. “This role is ideal for anyone who would like to be involved but cannot commit to a weekly shift. No previous retail experience is required. Training will be provided, and availability can be entirely flexible around existing commitments.”

Whether you have professional experience or simply life skills, empathy and time to give, your contribution can make a real and lasting difference,” said a spokesperson.
“Volunteers support a range of activities, including youth sessions, mentoring, outreach and practical support. Full training and ongoing guidance are provided, and volunteering can be shaped around your availability.”

Thoulstone parkrun
Thoulstone parkrun would not be possible without volunteers.
“Whether you can spare an hour or a morning, volunteering is a brilliant way to support the local community, meet friendly faces, and help create a welcoming, positive start to the weekend,” said Parkrun organisers. “No experience is needed, full guidance is given, and many roles allow you to cheer on participants and enjoy the fresh air.
“If you’re able to help, even occasionally, we’d be incredibly grateful.”
Roles include marshals, timekeepers, barcode scanners and tail walkers.

Athenaeum Masqueraders
The Athenaeum Masqueraders are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help bring live theatre to life in Warminster.
“There are lots of ways to help, both on and off stage, including front-of-house support, set building, costume assistance, props, lighting and backstage roles. You can volunteer as much or as little as suits you, and there’s always plenty of laughter along the way,” said a spokesperson from the Athenaeum Masqueraders.
To get in touch, visit their social media.
The Athenaeum
The theatre is looking for volunteers to support a wide range of roles, from front-of-house duties like ushering, bar work and box office shifts, to event management and administrative tasks behind the scenes.
Chair of Trustees, Jon Ellis, said, “We still rely on volunteers to keep the building open, and to allow us to host the range of events we do. Without sufficient cover, we simply might not be able to open the doors to some events, so if you are thinking of New Year’s resolutions, and would like to support the Athenaeum, please get in touch”.

No experience is needed, and all equipment will be provided — just bring sturdy footwear, a positive attitude, and a willingness to help.”
