Volunteers have taken to the streets of Warminster to rid the town of litter.
A group of 40 joined forces to collect 30 bags of rubbish as part of the Great British Spring Clean.
The annual event, promoted by Keep Britain Tidy, encourages people to don high-vis gear and grab a litter picker to take action in cleaning up their local environment.
In Warminster, the town council and Sustainable Warminster teamed up to organise the litter pick in early April.
Volunteers generously gave up a sunny Saturday morning to pick up litter from all over town, including resident streets, the local supermarkets and car parks.
Co-chairs of Sustainable Warminster, Amy and Rebecca, said, “Warminster is truly fortunate to have dedicated residents who routinely take the time to litter pick around the town. These community champions play a vital role in maintaining the town and protecting the environment and wildlife from the harmful effects of litter.
“We’re grateful to the Town Council for providing all the equipment and refreshments and for promoting the campaign every year.”
Eager volunteers met at the Warminster Civic Centre and were provided with bags, litter pickers, litter hoops, high-vis jackets and gloves. The 30 bags of rubbish collected will be disposed of by Idverde.
A Warminster Town Council spokesperson said, “Thank you to our amazing volunteers. It was great to see so many people support the community litter pick and take pride in our town, making it an attractive place to live, work, and visit.
“We thank everyone for their hard work—getting that extra litter picked up can make all the difference to wildlife and the appearance of an area.”
