Warminster duo raise over £1,300 for hospital charity

A mother and daughter team from Warminster have raised £1,355 for a local hospital charity with a cream tea, raffle and charity walk.

Barbara Rose and Ann-Maria Read organised various fundraising events before taking on the Walk for Wards for the Stars Appeal last month. The Stars Appeal is a charity which supports patients and staff at the Salisbury District Hospital.

“We have been inspired to help the Stars Appeal as they continue to help people in our family,” said Ann-Maria. “The event was very much a family team effort from behind the scenes to front of house.

“The money will go towards projects across Salisbury Hospital. These include new equipment such as a mammogram machine for the Breast Unit, enhancements to buildings, and ongoing projects across the hospital, including support for people with cancer, a dedicated play assistant on the Children’s Unit, and Stars Appeal wi-fi.”

The pair gave thanks to various local businesses who supported their fundraising efforts by donating raffle prizes.

Ann-Maria said, “We would like to give a special mention to Bishopstrow Hotel and Spa, Rabart Decorating Centre, Taste Deli, Dents, Roland John Hair Studio, Stocks Greengrocers, Reeve the Baker, and a special mention to everyone who made the day special.”
