A Warminster Journal reporter has completed a 53km walk across the Isle of Wight to raise funds for the charity Missing People.
Kirsten Robertson took part in the Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge on Saturday 4th May to support Missing People, which works to reconnect missing individuals with their loved ones and offers vital support to families affected by a disappearance. The 53km walk included coastal paths, forest trails and several unforgiving hills.
Kirsten said, “After starting the challenge at 7.30am, we were really happy to finish just over 12 hours later at 8pm. The hot temperatures took a toll, but the stunning scenery on the Isle of Wight provided a lovely distraction from our growing blisters and aching knees.
“At points, we walked with people directly supported by Missing People, as well as with the charity’s CEO, Jo Youle OBE, who explained the life-changing difference the charity makes.
“So far, I have raised £700, and our wider fundraising team has raised £28,000, which will go towards Missing People’s helpline, counselling services and support workers.
Kirsten added, “I would like to thank my colleagues for putting up with me complaining about sore legs in the days after the challenge!”
