A Warminster woman and author of historical romance novel has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Jeanne Yarde turned 100 on Friday 17th October, one day after her ninth great-grandchild was born. Her birthday was marked with two days of celebration with her family.
Jeanne was an author of historical romances, beginning her writing career in 1972 and publishing many books over the years. She won the ‘Best Saga’ award from Romantic Times Magazine in 1989–1990 for her book Diamond Heart, and her last book, Rite of Passage, was published in 2008.

“She has lived a very full life,” said her son, Bruce Treasure. “She was writing stories even as a child and published short stories in 19 Magazine. She had a lot of books published, mostly historical romances, which was what she was interested in, especially the English Civil War.”

Jeanne grew up in Bath before moving to near Bristol to bring up her family of four children. She has lived in Warminster since 1974 and now resides at Ashford Care Centre.
Her other interests include classical music, particularly opera and ballet, cinema, television, theatre and collecting antique dolls and teddy bears.
