A local resident has written her first children’s book, inspired by a story she created when she was 11.
Chloe Annabel’s book The Scarlet Shoes follows one shoe’s journey from the glamorous streets of Paris to a second-hand shop, and finally into the hands of a little girl who gives it new life.
“I actually first wrote the original version of this story when I was 11 years old,” said Chloe. “I recently found it tucked away in some of my old schoolwork, and it inspired me to bring it back to life as a story for my two daughters.”
Chloe has a three-year-old and a one-year-old and is expecting another child in the new year.
“I reworked it with them in mind – something magical, fun and full of adventure that they could cherish now and hopefully remember fondly as they grow up,” she said.
“Seeing it become a real book has been a dream come true. I wrote it in the evenings after they were in bed – it’s a labour of love.”
The book is aimed at children aged three and up, but Chloe has had positive responses from older children and adults too. She is already working on her second book, The Very Tired Mummy.
The Scarlet Shoes is available online from Amazon and Waterstones, and copies can be borrowed from Warminster Library and Salisbury Library.
