For many Warminster residents, Monday and Thursday evenings and Friday mornings mean more than a date in the diary. They’re an opportunity to step into a friendly hall, share a chat, and take one more step towards a healthier lifestyle at the local Slimming World sessions.
Popular sessions are run at the Baptist Church Hall and Christ Church Hall by local consultant Gary Timperley.
“Whether it’s a chat about the week’s triumphs, swapping a favourite low-Syn recipe, or getting that gentle nudge to stay on track, these meetings are as much about community spirit as they are about the numbers on the scales,” said Gary.
“The Slimming World plan – “Food Optimising” and its “Body Magic” activity goals – offers a structured approach that plenty of Warminster residents have found works for them.
And it’s not one-size-fits-all. Members living with diabetes receive tailored guidance as supported by Diabetes UK while expectant mums can follow the plan safely with the advice of their midwife, ensuring both mum and baby get the nutrition they need.
“Even those undergoing weight loss injections will find a supportive, understanding environment to help them make the most of their journey.”
Recently, the group came together for its Woman of the Year final with the title going to Emma, who has lost 5 stone 12½ pounds in just under 12 months.
“This was a celebration of the magnificent women whose dedication and achievements inspire others,” added Gary. “Emma says she now feels fantastic, more positive, and is able to enjoy her holiday in USA without being turned away from rides.
“She is not only a shining example of what’s possible, but also a constant source of encouragement – always taking part in group activities and supporting every fellow member.
“At its heart, Slimming World in Warminster is about more than losing weight. It’s about friendship, encouragement, and the belief that small steps can lead to big changes.
“Whether you’re aiming to drop a dress size, improve your fitness, manage your health or simply meet some friendly faces, the groups offer a warm welcome. And in a world where healthy living can feel like a lonely road, that’s something worth celebrating.”
