A varied programme of music, film, comedy and family entertainment is coming up at the Athenæum in Warminster in January and February.
Highlights include a charity afternoon of music and refreshments, stand-up comedy, big screen showings of Ocean with David Attenborough and Shirley Valentine, the return of a popular antiques valuation day and a pop-up circus aimed at children.

Melodies & Muffins
Indulge your senses with an exquisite afternoon of music, tea and companionship, supported by the Brickhill Trust as part of the Sheila Toomey Award who will be providing the refreshments; and all profits and donations will revert to the Award.
Treat yourself to a truly delightful afternoon with a Teatime Concert of Classical and Musical Favourites. Headlining the programme are Richard Lennox and Cecilia de Maria.
Richard is a remarkable classical pianist and virtuoso musician whose repertoire includes Bach, The Beatles, Musical Theatre, and Rock and Roll. His impressive career highlights include performing in the West End production of ‘Wicked’, the annual Prom Praise event at the Royal Albert Hall, and appearing on the BBC’s Songs of Praise.
Cecilia is a Sony-signed internationally renowned harpist who has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, The Barbican, The House of Lords and all the major Royal Residences (Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, and Clarence House).
The acclaimed duo is supported by tenor Carl Daniels and actor musician Joely Hudson, two professional and highly talented young musicians well-known and appreciated by local audiences.

Ocean with David Attenborough
All the stunning spectacle on the big screen. Sir David Attenborough explores the planet’s undersea habitats, revealing the greatest age of ocean discovery and emphasising the ocean’s vital importance while exposing its problems and highlighting opportunities for marine life recovery.

Antiques Valuation Day with Paul Martin
The Athenaeum welcomes back TV’s favourite antiques expert, Paul Martin, for another antiques valuation day. Bring items along for a free appraisal, with an option to submit for auction if you wish. No tickets required, but please be aware that there may be a small queue or wait, depending what comes in.

Circus Extravaganza
Circus Extravaganza is a pop-up circus where the children become the stars! Expect international circus artists with big tricks and bigger smiles set to an upbeat soundtrack. The highly skilled routines are interlaced with moments of comedy that means this show has something for all ages!

The Warminster Comedy Club (18+)
Warminster Comedy Club returns with a massive stand-up night headlined by Live at the Apollo star Paul McCaffrey. Famed for his relentless pace, McCaffrey is joined by expert MC Rich Wilson and a top-tier opening act for an energetic evening.

Shirley Valentine
The Athenaeum Marsqueraders bring you Shirley Valentine by Willy Russell. A one woman play following a middle-aged Liverpool housewife who escapes her routine life on a Greek holiday. Through humour and honesty, Shirley rediscovers her confidence, independence and sense of self, questioning expectations placed upon women.

The Ballad of Wallis Island
Washed up folk singer Herb McGwyer (Tom Basden) travels to a remote island to play a private gig for “less than” 100 people. The audience of one turns out to be Charles (Tim Key), lottery winner and Herb super-fan. Unbeknownst to Herb, Charles has invited Herb’s former co-writer and lover Nell (Carey Mulligan) to get the band back together.

Beyond Dementia – Charity Concert

A fun evening of Ska & Reggae! Relax, unwind, and groove to the smooth sounds of Train to Skaville. Sing your heart out and enjoy great vibes all around!
Performed by the local band Train to Skaville and supporting the charity Beyond Dementia a Wiltshire charity supporting families living with dementia.
