Increased charges at Wiltshire Council-owned car parks in Warminster will come into effect from 4th September.
The changes will bring an average 20 per cent increase in parking charges, with a further increase coming into effect in 2028.
Short-stay car parks will operate from 7am to 7pm Monday to Saturday, with Sunday charging from 10am to 4pm. Long-stay car parks will operate from 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, with Sunday charging from 10am to 4pm.
In Warminster, Central, Chinns, Emwell Street, Furlong, Western and Weymouth Street car parks will be affected by the new tariffs.
At Central Car Park, parking will cost 60p for one hour and £7.80 for all day. Chinns Car Park will charge 70p for one hour and £1.80 for two hours.
At Emwell Street and Furlong car parks, parking will cost 60p for one hour and £8.60 for all day. At Western Car Park, the charge will be 50p for one hour and £7.10 for all day.
Weymouth Street Car Park will charge 60p for one hour and £3.10 for three hours.
Sunday parking will cost 90p at Central, Emwell Street, Furlong and Western car parks.
Season ticket and permit charges will also increase in line with the revised tariffs, although these remain discounted against the normal daily parking charge.
Cllr Martin Smith, Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Highways, said, “Parking charges haven’t risen in Wiltshire since 2022, and given significant inflation during that time, we had to raise them now to help pay for the increasing costs in providing the service and to reinvest in our wider transport infrastructure, including our rural bus network.
“That said, we have listened to feedback we received during the consultation and made several changes to our original proposals as a result.
“These changes strike a balance between supporting our town and city centres, managing parking effectively and ensuring we can continue to invest in transport and highways services across Wiltshire.
“The changes also reflect our commitment in Our Wiltshire Plan to improve public transport options across the county.”
