A mental health morning in aid of Warminster Action Group (WAG) has been hailed a huge success.
The charity was contacted by the team at Castlemore Retail Park, who were keen to mark Mental Health Awareness Week in a meaningful way and partner with a local organisation.
Annalisa Davis, Chair of WAG, said, “That initial idea – to bring people together over breakfast and create a relaxed space for connection – turned into a warm and welcoming community morning filled with laughter, activity and new faces.”
The event was a joint effort between Waypoint, MAPP Property Managers, WAG, Castlemore Retail Park, and two tenants, McDonald’s and Snap Fitness. It was open to anyone who wanted to come along.
“Things kicked off at McDonald’s, where a free breakfast was provided for all attendees,” said Annalisa.
“Next, everyone headed over to the newly refurbished WAG House, where a Snap Fitness yoga instructor led a chair-based exercise session with Leanne and James.
“The morning ended with an activity run by Emma Gillespie, a WAG volunteer, who brought her creativity and calm approach to the session. With cups of tea flowing, relaxed conversation, and cuddles from Storm the therapy dog, it was a lovely way to round off the day.”
Annalisa added, “The response from everyone who came was so positive – one woman told us she hadn’t been to anything social in a very long time and was so glad she’d made it.
“Mental health issues are still on the rise, and with ongoing cuts to services, it’s more important than ever that the community comes together to support events like this.
“A big thank you to the team at Castlemore Retail Park for getting in touch with us in the first place, and to McDonald’s and Snap Fitness for being so supportive and easy to work with, we couldn’t have done it without them.”
