A series of fundraising events are taking place throughout October in the run-up to the popular Warminster Carnival at the end of the month.
The events will give the community a chance to help raise money for the carnival, which takes place on Saturday 31st October. The event costs £12,000 a year to run.
The events include a curry night on 19th October at the Agra, at 7pm for a 7.30pm start, and Pairs Skittles at the Fox and Hounds on Deverill Road on 24th October, at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
There will also be a Fire Station open evening on 26th October, with doors opening at 5.30pm. Admission is free.
A quiz night will be held at Prestbury Sports Bar on 26th October at 8pm. It costs £3 per person, with teams of four, while carnival prize bingo will take place at the Civic Centre on 28th October. Doors open at 6pm, with the game starting at 7pm.
Chair of Warminster Carnival, Sandra Major, said, “Funds from these events help to keep the carnival going and profits from all events and the collection on carnival night will go to local charities, so please dig deep and fill those collection buckets on carnival night. Donations are always welcome.”
Along with these events, funds for the carnival are also donated by the town council, sponsors, businesses and local supporters.
Sandra said, “Without that, we would not be able to carry on the tradition. Let us keep the tradition of carnival going in Warminster; the last carnival in the Wessex Grand Prix Circuit.”
Tickets for the Curry Night must be booked in advance for £25.
