Allotment plots specifically designed for people with disabilities are available in Warminster, after a team of volunteers raised £3,500 to create them.
Three raised plots, suitable for people with disabilities at Tynings Allotments on Bradley Road, have been developed by a team of five local volunteers, Hannah Edgar, Pete Russell, Russell Stephens, Chris Brooks and John Howlett.
They raised £3,500 through regular jumble sales to buy materials for the accessible plots to be installed.
Treasurer John Howlett said, “Although the beds are now complete and are designed for people with disabilities in mind, we need to find people who are keen to have a raised bed to cultivate and look after for a small annual fee to cover insurance.
“They look quite posh and it would just be nice for people to use them. They are ideal for anyone who might be interested in growing fruits or vegetables. It costs £6 a year.
“A big thank you to local builders merchants Sydenhams who helped in supplying the materials at favourable rates.”
To express interest leave a note of your contact details addressed to the plot manager in the post box up at the allotment pavilion.
