Athenaeum Limelight Players (ALPs) are presenting their winter production – Frederick Knott’s gripping thriller Wait Until Dark – this month.
It will be showing from Thursday 27th to Saturday 29th November at the Athenaeum Theatre.
“With a talented cast and dedicated crew, we are delighted to present this thrilling, edge-of-your-seat experience,” said assistant producer Adela Forestier-Walker. “Wait Until Dark promises a night of suspense you won’t soon forget.
“The film version is one of the top 100 thriller movies and this tense and atmospheric play has been a long-held ambition for our director who relishes the unique challenge of thrillers, where every actor, cue and silence must build suspense.
“At the heart of the story is Suzy, the strong complex blind protagonist navigating danger while relationships around her shift and strain. The play’s characters – whether allies, con artists or uncertain friends – create an ever-tightening web of tension.
“Inspired by the classic late-1960s film and years of involvement with psychological dramas, our director Graham Thomas has waited a long time to bring this piece to the stage. After directing productions including The Haunting of Hill House, Jekyll & Hyde and Macbeth, it is a fitting final show for him before moving on to new projects.”
