Sunday saw the first dressage competition held in the newly resurfaced indoor school at Warminster Saddle Club.
“The weather was fantastic and everyone was very positive about the new surface provided by Equestrian Surfaces and installed by GHF Contracting,” said Paula Coward, yard manager. “Thanks to the hard work of the liveries and staff at the club, the indoor school had a well-earned make over and now looks fresh and bigger than ever.”
The dressage competition, sponsored by Cooper & Tanner, tests the accuracy of horse and rider. Class 1, judged by Laura Ross, was for those wishing to do walk and trot. Class 2, judged by Lisa Gilby, tested those who were a little more ambitious and included walk, trot and canter.
Results for the competition are as follows:-
Class 1 (Intro 3):
1st, Karina McDermott, Lochlands Piccolo – 69.7%; 2nd, Agnes Barran, Penny – 67.9%; 3rd, Robyn Jones, Coalman – 67.7%; 4th, Hannah King, Hughie – 67.5%; 5th, Lucie Dunning, Gary – 65.4%; 6th, Jemima Coward, Tenderheart Flow – 65.2%
Class 2 (Prelim 13):
1st, Rachel Riley, George – 72.1%; 2nd, Tallulah Kelly, Spud – 71.9%; 3rd, Emma Jeffery, Tara Lad – 71.7%; 4th, Sarah James, Little Mischief – 70.4%; 5th, Gina Jones, Coalman – 68%; 6th, Lucie Dunning, Gary – 62.5%
“As you can see the results were all very close,” added Paula Coward. “A huge well done to everyone who competed.”
Warminster Saddle Club not only run competitions but they are a well-established riding school, founded in the 1970s by the very well-respected Robert Sullivan-Tailyour and his wife, Sylvia. They ran the riding school for over 30 years.
Warminster Saddle Club run both group and private riding lessons for both military and civilian riders of all ages throughout the week. They are council licensed and a British Horse Society (BHS) approved Riding Centre.
