Freemasons support Warminster dementia day club

The Old Silk Works Day Club in Warminster have received a welcome boost from local Freemasons, who donated more than £1,000 to help improve access for those living with dementia.

Representatives from the White Horse Lodge in Westbury visited the club recently to present a cheque for £1,150. Lodge Master Paul Pike, treasurer Arthur Alexander, and members Derek Dove and Nick Noke were welcomed by club members, volunteers, and staff during the handover.

Lodge member Nick Noke said, “During my period as Master of the White Horse Lodge in Westbury, it was my pleasure to nominate the Old Silk Works day club as my designated charity.   

“This club has special memories for my family as my father-in-law, Ron, was a founder member and received fantastic help and support from everyone there.   

“My wife, Maria, also volunteers at the club, so we see week by week the good work the club does for all its members.”

Rachel Fear, community fundraiser manager at Alzheimer’s Support, said,

“We rely heavily on the generosity of our local community, and without this support, we wouldn’t be able to continue providing the excellent services for our clients living with dementia.

“We are currently raising funds for a new ramp to improve access into the club for all our members – and their generous donation will make a significant contribution to this effort.”
