ONE of the UK’s leading palaeontologists is coming to Warminster to deliver dinosaur lectures as part of the summer-long Roarminster event.
Professor Mike Benton will deliver two lectures on Saturday 25th July at the Warminster Civic Centre.
A family-friendly talk for young enthusiasts, aimed at those aged seven and upwards, will take place at 2pm. Another lecture exploring how scientific evidence shapes our understanding of the prehistoric world, and how those discoveries are brought to life through art, will take place at 4pm.
“Professor Mike Benton is internationally recognised for his work on dinosaur evolution, mass extinctions and the history of life on Earth,” said a spokesperson from Warminster Town Council, which is organising the event. “A professor at the University of Bristol, he has written numerous popular science books and regularly appears on television and radio, making complex science understandable and exciting for wide audiences.
“Audience members can expect to hear how palaeontologists reconstruct dinosaur behaviour, diet and movement, why ideas about dinosaurs have changed so dramatically in recent decades, and what discoveries are still reshaping our understanding today.”
Professor Mike Benton will be selling his books at the event and doing a signing supported by his publisher, Thames and Hudson.
