A story-inspired Easter event is coming to Longleat to mark the National Year of Reading.
Once Upon an Easter invites guests to enter a land of stories from Saturday 28th March until Sunday 19th April.
Four interactive areas across the park will showcase The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, The Wind in the Willows, and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
Guests can join the Mad Hatter’s tea party, follow Ratty and Mole on riverside rambles, help Goldilocks find the right chair, and follow the yellow brick road to a storytelling haven with characters brought to life.
“As it’s the National Year of Reading, it was the perfect opportunity to bring classic children’s tales to life in interactive experiences for our guests,” said Head of Operations Scott Ashman.
“We’ll have characters at each trail area, and those that complete each literary adventure can earn a chocolate treat to celebrate Easter.”
Longleat House, home to one of Europe’s largest private libraries, will feature an Easter exhibition with rare first editions of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and The Wind in the Willows, alongside Walter Crane’s illustrated edition of The Three Bears. Guests can view the exhibition on guided and self-guided tours of the house.
This year also marks 60 years since Longleat first opened its safari park, the first drive-through safari outside Africa. To celebrate, an Anniversary Garden Party will be held on 11th and 12th April, with tethered hot air balloons, classic 1960s cars, live entertainment, market stalls and garden games.
“We can’t wait to celebrate our 60th anniversary with our guests,” said Scott. “We are also celebrating those who turn 60 in April, with free entry to the garden party.”
Tickets for Once Upon an Easter and the Anniversary Garden Party are available at longleat.co.uk. Guests are encouraged to buy tickets before midnight on the day of their visit for the Advanced Booking Offer.
