Warminster’s outgoing mayor, Cllr Stacie Allensby, has thanked the town for its support during her time in the role.
As well as attending local events and acting as a figurehead for the council, Cllr Allensby has helped raise £2,683 for Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Warminster Youth Club during her year as mayor.
She said, “The experience has been amazing. I am honoured by how warmly Warminster has welcomed me as mayor.
“It’s hard to pick one proudest moment, but the 100-year celebration of the Lake Pleasure Grounds [in July 2024] will definitely stand out for a long time.”
Through conversations with members of the public and detailed council meetings, she has discovered more about Warminster than she ever could have imagined.
Cllr Allensby, who has lived in Warminster for most of her life, added, “I have learned what an amazing place Warminster truly is, and how much people come together to support events and other things going on in the town.
“I’ve enjoyed meeting so many amazing people and helping out with issues they may have had. Knowing I’ve had the support of my fellow councillors during my term has meant a lot to me, as has the support of the staff at the town council. I also appreciate the support of my family and friends.”
At Warminster’s Annual Town Meeting on Monday 12th May, Cllr Allensby shared some words of reflection as Cllr Andrew Cooper and Cllr Jack Jones were voted in as mayor and deputy mayor for Warminster.
She added, “My main goal as mayor was to make people realise councillors are people – regular, normal people who can be approached. We all want the same thing as councillors:
“We want what is best for Warminster. I would like to thank the people of Warminster for their support throughout this year.”
