Pupils from Sambourne CofE Primary School have retained their cricket tournament title for the third consecutive year after competing against schools from across the Warminster and Westbury area.
Year 5 and 6 pupils represented the school at the annual Dynamos Cricket Tournament qualifier, with Sambourne entering two teams, and Sambourne A crowned tournament champions.
“We are incredibly proud of both of our teams, who represented Sambourne Primary School with outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork and determination throughout the tournament,” said PE lead Mr Morgan.
“To win this tournament for a third consecutive year is a fantastic achievement and reflects the positive impact of the high-quality PE curriculum and the wide range of sporting opportunities we provide at Sambourne. Our PE lessons and after-school clubs continue to develop pupils’ skills, confidence and love of sport, and it was wonderful to see all of that come together in such a successful day of cricket.”
The victory secured Sambourne A a place in the prestigious county finals, which were scheduled to take place in July. However, due to consistent high temperatures, the tournament was cancelled.
“The children were still over the moon about their win and rightly so,” said Mr Morgan.
