A pumpkin-themed family fun day was held at Warminster United Church, bringing together 25 children accompanied by parents and grandparents.
Thirteen volunteers from the church, aged 13 to 85, helped run the event on Thursday 30th October, which aimed to encourage children to meet new friends and enjoy creative activities.
The morning began with a video story, Patch the Pumpkin and the Peace Club, about making friends and including everyone. Children were then given paper cut-out hands to decorate and use to introduce themselves to others.
“This proved very popular and it was good to see the children mixing so well together,” said Joan Jones.
Crafts included decorating hanging birds, candle holders and heart-shaped boxes, making autumn wreaths, icing biscuits, and painting and drawing. Younger children also enjoyed a selection of toys.
The event ended with a lunch prepared by church volunteers. “Everyone had a great time!” Joan added.
