Recruitment drive at Warminster Fire Station

Warminster Fire Station is recruiting for the first time in 18 months, with up to five paid on-call firefighter roles available.

The station is looking for people who live or work in the Warminster area and can reach the station within one mile or five minutes.

It is particularly looking for people who can provide cover during weekdays and weekends, when there are fewer firefighters available.

The roles are for on-call, part-time firefighters, who are professionally trained and receive the same qualifications as full-time firefighters.

Crew Manager Pete Holcombe said, “We’re a part-time service, but still with exactly the same qualifications. We carry pagers, and in the event of a 999 call, the pagers will go off, and all of the firefighters that are within the local area make their way to the fire station as quickly as possible, and then they will respond to that 999 call.”

The station is looking to recruit up to five new firefighters, which Pete said is ‘highly unusual’ for Warminster as it is rarely open for recruitment.

Applicants must be at least 17 years and six months old at the time of application and have a driving licence.

No formal qualifications are required to apply. However, applicants who do not have the required English and maths qualifications can take tests as part of the recruitment process.

A recruitment evening will be held at Warminster Fire Station on Friday 28th August from 7pm to 9pm.
