A space-themed festival featuring a pop-up planetarium, a 3D illuminated moon and workshops will be coming to Sutton Veny this month.
Astrofest is a two-day, family-friendly event with a packed schedule of space-themed education and entertainment, organised by StarQuest Warminster Astronomy Club.
“Every year, Cranborne Chase put on a StarFest, and last year I got involved and put the moon in the Minster as part of the event when it came to Warminster,” said Councillor Liz Lee, a member of StarQuest Warminster Astronomy Club.
“Because the astronomy club had an open evening which went really well, we decided to do something every year. We have called our event Astrofest, and this year, we have gone a bit bigger.”
Across the festival, there will be a pop-up planetarium, a suspended 3D illuminated moon, educational stands, a workshop from an award-winning landscape astrophotographer and a solar system explorer VR experience.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to explore astronomy and space in a friendly, fun and welcoming environment,” said organisers.
“Last year’s planetarium shows sold quickly, so we strongly recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.”
The event will take place at Sutton Veny Village Hall and St John’s Church on 20th and 21st March.
