A temporary pharmacy is set to open soon in a shipping container on Broxburn Road.
The facility is expected to open in March, as a temporary measure ahead of plans for a permanent pharmacy at a nearby retail unit.
David Reeves, from the Warminster Area Health and Wellbeing Forum, which has campaigned for a third pharmacy in the town, said, “Keen-eyed residents will have noted the recent appearance of a green shipping container at the Broadway parade of shops, hooked up to existing services. This is the temporary pharmacy facility which has now been signed off as suitable by the regulator. The applicant is now working in the background to set up stock, staff, delivery vehicle(s), etc.”
Planning permission for both the temporary unit and a permanent pharmacy was granted last year, following calls for a third pharmacy in the town to meet demand from several new housing developments.
“Health and Wellbeing Warminster are proud at having campaigned successfully to reinstate a third pharmacy in the town – sadly other Wiltshire towns have struggled to do so – and we welcome the prospect of additional pharmacy capacity in our expanding town,” said David.
At an Area Board meeting on Thursday 12th February, Councillor Barry Pirie, Wiltshire Councillor for Warminster Broadway, said he had received complaints about the temporary facility.
He said, “I have a lot of residents complaining about how it looks; it’s not pretty. It was never designed to be pretty, but it’s not great.
“On the back of complaints that I’ve received, I have contacted Planning Enforcement to review the siting of it and the layout of it.”
