A dance-themed afternoon of live classical music will be held at Warminster Civic Centre next week as Bath-based Trio Paradis continues its regular series of café concerts on first Fridays.
The next performance takes place on Friday 7th August at 3pm and is titled Shall We Dance? featuring music inspired by dances from around the world and across the centuries.
The programme includes everything from basse-danse to Black Bottom, polka to pavane, Charleston to waltz.
Following on, concerts for the autumn will be: 4th September Tango!; 2nd October, From Dawn to Dusk; 6th November, What’s in a Name; and 4th December, Winter Landscapes.
Trio Paradis – Jacquelyn Bevan (piano), Ruth O’Shea (violin) and Linda Stocks (cello) – perform at the Civic Centre on the first Friday of most months as part of a programme of more than 120 daytime concerts held each year across Wiltshire and Somerset.
“Café Concerts CIO is a charity whose aim is to make live classical music accessible to a wider audience, particularly people who may find it difficult to attend evening performances,” says pianist Jacquelyn.
“There’s a cafe open from 2.30pm where you can meet friends and make new ones over tea/coffee and home-made cakes, and then an informal 45-minute concert with music introduced by the performers.”
Concerts are offered on a pay-what-you-feel basis through a retiring collection to help keep live music affordable.
