A local 14-year-old girl recently completed a triathlon across Warminster to raise money for the charity UNICEF.
Addison Hall, a Year 9 pupil at Warminster School,
ran 10km around Warminster, swam 3km at Warminster Sports Centre and cycled 22km through the town and surrounding area to raise funds for the children’s charity.
Addison decided to set herself the challenge after seeing an article about starving children in Gaza. She wanted to help children around the world who have less than she does, and set out to raise £300 for UNICEF. So far, she has raised over £500.
“I’m really proud that I was able to complete this challenge and raise money for a cause I really care about,” said Addison.
“I am so grateful to everyone who supported and encouraged me during this challenge.
“I chose to raise money for UNICEF because it is a charity that works to save children’s lives, defend their rights and help them fulfil their potential from early childhood through adolescence.”
Addison trained for months in preparation for the event, swimming at Warminster Sports Centre and going on runs with her dad, Simon, around the local area. Simon also completed the triathlon alongside her.
Simon said, “We’re so impressed with Addison for wanting to make a difference and deciding to raise money all by herself. She dug really deep to complete the triathlon and raised so much more than she hoped, so it’s great!”
