Warminster’s bookworms were out in full force this month as the town came together to celebrate a love of all things literary.
The Warminster Book Festival saw writers of all backgrounds lead talks and workshops at venues across the town.
At St Lawrence Chapel, author Felice Hardy sat down for a Q&A with Warminster Community Radio presenter Maggie Dee to discuss her book The Tennis Champion Who Escaped the Nazis.
Speaking after the presentation, Felice, from Frome, said, “I loved my interview with Maggie and the questions from the audience.

“I’ve also enjoyed the chance to meet so many other writers at the Book Festival and learn about their process of writing and publishing.”
Meanwhile, Jo Gilfillan’s appearance at the festival marked her first talk about her debut book Dogs About Our House, which explores her experience fostering and rehabilitating rescue dogs since 2020.
Jo, from Salisbury, said, “I really enjoyed talking about the book, and meeting so many other authors has been lovely.”

On Sunday 8th June, writers came together at the Warminster Civic Centre to showcase their books as refreshments were served outside. Local authors such as Victoria Coombes, who wrote Wife Of, and John Price, who recently released Family Walks in the Wylye Valley, also joined the event.
Festival organisers Mark and Paula Thorpe said, “A massive thanks to the hardworking hosts at the Civic Centre, the Chapel of St Lawrence, the library, the Masonic Hall, and the WellBeing Hub, who went out of their way to make the Book Festival a thoroughly enjoyable weekend for all.
“We were delighted and encouraged by the positive reactions and feedback from the public and our multiple authors.
“With the willingness and support of our amazing volunteers, we all agree the Book Festival was an inspiring and uplifting experience.”
