A local church has celebrated 15 years of bringing families together through creative, hands-on sessions.
Messy Minster is a series of sessions run by the Minster Church of St Denys, engaging people of all ages through crafts, stories and songs. The church marked 15 years of Messy Minster with a special Christmas session last month, where families enjoyed crafts, sang carols, and shared a ploughman’s lunch together.
Revd Carole Owen said, “Over 25 years ago, the late Revd Alison Wadsworth, who had been a teacher and headteacher, began annual Christmas and Good Friday family workshops at the Minster Church of St Denys. 15 years ago, the Church of England launched a national programme called Messy Church and we formally started Messy Minster.
“This year, our Advent/Christmas Messy Minster marked 15 years of this vibrant ministry with parents and children at the church. Based around the Christmas story, activities included dollie angels, wise men stars and Nativity baubles and cards. The dramatised story told of angels bringing good news to the shepherds.”
