Music lovers in Warminster are in for a treat this month as The Athenaeum Singers, joined by The Athenaeum Orchestra, bring a vibrant evening of choral and orchestral music to the Minster Church.
Under the baton of their director of music, Thomas Mottershead, the ensemble will present a rich programme celebrating the drama and beauty of 19th-century composition.
The concert, taking place at 7pm, promises a stirring selection of popular operatic choruses from giants such as Verdi, Wagner and Donizetti, culminating in a performance of Messa di Gloria—a dazzling early work by the great Giacomo Puccini, written when he was just 18 years old.
Two distinguished soloists will lead the performance. Tenor Rhys Batt, whose breakthrough performance at Glyndebourne last year drew critical acclaim, will take the tenor role. He is joined by bass Niall Hoskin, a Clare College Cambridge alumnus with a rich operatic résumé and a founding member of Men with Horns, an ensemble dedicated to male voices and horn quartet repertoire.
The concert has been carefully curated by Mottershead, who has united the singers and orchestra for what promises to be an unforgettable evening of musical artistry.
Tickets are £20 and include canapés during the interval. Entry is free for children, making it a wonderful opportunity for families to enjoy live classical music together. Tickets can be purchased from www.athenaeumsingers.com.
