Warminster will welcome representatives from Warminster, Pennsylvania this August as part of twinning association celebrations.
A group from America will be welcomed with celebrations planned to commemorate a more than decade long relationship.
A full programme of events from Friday 14th August to Saturday 15th August will include a ‘Ryder Cup’ golf competition at West Wilts Golf Club, an informal dinner at The Old Fire Station, a celebration party at the Prestbury Sports Bar and a trip to Imber as part of Imberbus – the once-a-year vintage bus service from Warminster to the abandoned village on Salisbury Plain.
Leo Quinn III, who was previously Chairperson for Warminster Board of Supervisors – the USA equivalent of Mayor – said, “I’m really looking forward to playing golf on such a beautiful course, and to see where my American colleagues trained for World War II. I am officially going to invite Warminster, UK residents to join us in Warminster, USA, to celebrate our July 4th party, it will be so much fun.”
Warminster, PA, is situated halfway between New York and Washington D.C. Both towns share common features, including a military base, a town park, a museum, a town council, and a shopping centre.
