Young people in Warminster will continue to benefit from dedicated youth worker support, alongside an expanding range of free activities and community events from the town council.
The town council recently renewed its agreement with the Westbury and Warminster Youth Club, with councillors agreeing to fund another year of detached youth worker provision in Warminster. The agreement is intended to be renewed annually for up to three years and builds on the initial arrangement, which is due to end in June 2025.
The Westbury and Warminster Youth Club works with young people for two hours each evening, four nights a week, throughout the year. The youth workers collaborate closely with schools, Wiltshire Police and other local agencies to help build resilience against youth offending and anti-social behaviour, while providing a safe space for young people to connect and have fun.
Deputy mayor Jack Jones said, “Warminster Youth Club has played an important role in detached youth work over the past 12 months. Youth work is not just about activities — it’s about giving young people the support, space and inspiration they need to thrive.
“Investing time and resources into youth support is investing in Warminster’s future. It empowers the next generation to grow, lead and contribute positively to our community.”
Alongside this ongoing youth worker provision, the town council has recently funded a series of free activities for children and teenagers aged six to 17. These have included canoeing, axe throwing, archery and climbing sessions in the Lake Pleasure Grounds, with more free events planned throughout the year.
The council said that future events such as free skatepark events, the Ice Cream & Bubbles Festival and Pumpkins in the Park have all been planned with Warminster’s younger population in mind.
